The app never collects your name, your email, or anything you write in it. There is no account and no login. The only thing the app sends us is a short record of how far people get through the first-time setup, described below.
What the app stores, and where
Unwander keeps four kinds of information, all of it on your iPhone:
- Your name, if you enter one
- Your daily ratings — a number from 1 to 5 for each day you log
- Your journal entries, the few words you add to a check-in, if you write any
- Your settings — your waking hours and how often reminders arrive
This information is stored on your device and synchronised to your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so that it survives a new phone or a reinstall. It is held in your personal iCloud storage. We have no access to it and no way to read it.
What we never ask for
- No email address
- No phone number
- No password or login of any kind
- No contacts, location, photos, microphone or camera access
- No advertising identifier
Setup analytics, and nothing else
While you go through Unwander's first-time setup, the app records which setup screens you reach, which buttons you tap on them, when you swipe between them, and whether you start a subscription and on which plan. We use these records only to see where people stop during setup, so we can make it clearer.
These records go to PostHog, our analytics provider, in the United States. Each one carries a random ID made by the app and basic technical details: the app version, the iOS version and the iPhone model. PostHog keeps them for one year, then deletes them.
They never include your name, email, ratings, notes or anything you type. Nothing on your screen is recorded. Once setup is finished, the app sends nothing more.
We do not advertise, sell data, or track you across other apps and websites. Apple also gives us total download and sales figures, as it does for every app.
If you email us
If you write to hello@s7alab.com, from the app or anywhere else, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply, and we delete them if you ask.
Our website
s7alab.com counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. When you open the links on our Instagram profile and on X, we count the tap and the kind of device, without your IP address. Because we don't track anyone across apps or websites, we treat every visitor the same whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally by the app on your own device. They are not sent from a server and we do not know whether one was delivered or seen.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, your billing address, or your Apple Account. Apple tells the app only whether a subscription is active. The setup analytics above note that a subscription started and which plan was chosen, nothing more. Apple also tells us when a subscription is paid for, renewed, cancelled or refunded, and we record that alongside the setup analytics. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Health data
Some US state laws, such as Washington's, may treat ratings and journal entries like yours as health data. We never receive them, share them or sell them; they stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
Children
Unwander is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The setup analytics carry no name or contact details, so there is nothing that could identify a child.
Your data, and deleting it
Because everything lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you are already in control of it. Deleting the app removes the local copy. To remove the synchronised copy as well, use Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage on your iPhone. We hold no copy to delete. The setup analytics carry no name or contact details, so we cannot find any one person's records in them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or object to the setup analytics by emailing hello@s7alab.com. The setup records carry no name or contact details, so we may not be able to tell which are yours, but we will help as far as we can. In the UK, we use these records on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the setup. Wherever you live, you can also complain to your privacy regulator, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
